After an extended absence, we are planning some new events and look forward to seeing people both online and in person. Our goal is to deliver programming that allows everyone to feel safe and included. We have found this challenging over the summer months, but feel as more people are now vaccinated (more than 49 million people have had a first vaccine dose —about 85%) and venues and public spaces are taking precautions, in-person events can resume.
We’re starting out with an online event leading into Halloween weekend to embrace the spooky season. We have an exclusive discussion with the filmmakers of Demigod (2021). We'll be joined by Rachel Nichols CC’03 [The Amityville Horror (2005), Star Trek (2009), Continuum (2012–2015)] who plays “Robin” and Miles Doleac [The Historian (2014), The Hollow (2016), The Dinner Party (2020)] the writer and director.
On the 20th of October is the annual Columbia Giving Day (CGD). In 2020, Giving Day raised $24,161,991 from 19,173 gifts—breaking both records from 2019! More importantly, Columbia University Club of London, with 61 gifts, was the International club winner.
Lastly, we are hosting our Open Board meeting in November. This will be followed by our very first in-person event since February 2020. We look forward to seeing everyone again (from a safe and socially distanced space).
We have more to share soon. And are looking forward to more in 2022.
