August News and Upcoming Events

hyde park

August is one of our favorite months of the year. Summer is in full swing, many people are off on holiday, school is out for the children, and we get a Bank Holiday at the end as a bonus.

It’s also a very busy month, so we don’t have a lot planned (that’s starting in September) but we do want to enjoy the weather and outdoors whilst we can. To that end, we’re holding an afternoon picnic and hope members and their families will join us (and that the weather holds without rain)—details below.

And stay tuned this fall, as we’re planning an architectural walking tour, a trip to Scotland, and Columbia Connects.

Keep and eye on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for more updates and the latest information on all our activities.

Do reach out at [email protected] if you need anything.

The Alumni Representative Committee (ARC) is a network of Columbia College and Columbia Engineering alumni who support Undergraduate Admissions by interviewing applicants, representing Columbia at college fairs and hosting regional events for admitted students. ARC facilitates alumni meeting students around the world—in person and virtually—so that the students can learn about the unique Columbia experience from alumni who have experienced it firsthand.

We are looking to support our members across Britain. If you’re an alumni living somewhere other than London, and would like to be your city’s Ambassador, please let us know. You’d be a point of contact for visiting alumni and help arrange the occasional happy hour for other local members.

August Events:

Summer Family Picnic at Woodberry Down | August 17th, 14:30-17:00

woodberry down

Join us for a casual sit on the grass, walk around the water, meander with the swans, and explore a hidden bit of London. Situated a few hundred feet from the Manor House tube station in Hackney, Woodberry Down overlooks a pair of Victorian reservoirs that are part of the Woodberry Wetlands nature preserve.

This is about as informal as it can be but still an event but there are activities for all ages including a playground for children and scenic walks for the adults. Refreshments will be included as part of your ticket. Local shops nearby are convenient to pick up food and beverages (if needed).

“Mandy Picks a Husband” at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe | August 13-17

mandy_picks_a_husband

Sell-out shows and rave reviews at the 2019 Hollywood Fringe Festival.

Amanda will be hosting a meet and greet for Columbia Alumni after the Saturday performance at the Hilton Hotel bar.
