We hope you've had a wonderful start to the new year.
The CUCL executive board recently had the privilege of attending a special Columbia University alumni event at the Wallace Collection in London, where President Minouche Shafik spoke. In her role for just over six months, President Shafik shared insights about her vision and the challenges Columbia has faced. It was a delight to welcome her back to London, a city that has been a significant part of her impressive career.
We're coming out roaring (pun intended) and excited about what 2024 has in store for our alumni. February is packed with events, and we plan to keep the momentum going throughout the year with more opportunities for alumni to meet in person. We're also working on events tailored to specific groups and interests, like SIPA and Columbia Pride, and will have dedicated sections of our website to learn more. Join SIPA HERE and Columbia Pride HERE. Don’t forget you can also connect with Alumni on our members only Slack team, just login and follow this link HERE.
Kicking off our calendar are two distinct events, coincidentally scheduled for the same evening. You'll have a choice to make: attend the Seven Sisters gathering for Barnard College alumni or join the Columbia Pride and US Alumni Club LGBTQ+ Happy Hour. The week following brings our much-anticipated Chinese New Year's dinner—reserve your spot soon as it's known to sell out quickly! Additionally, SIPA alumni can look forward to a happy hour at The Perseverance in Bloomsbury. More details on these events are provided below.
Lastly, we're looking to host book talks and speaker series but are in need of a venue. Our usual spaces aren't available post-pandemic. If you or your company can help out with a space, please reach out to us at [email protected].
We can't wait to see you all in 2024 and hope you can join us at one of our events.
