Book Talk: "Seeing What Is There" by Erica Rex '09JRN

Did you know that psychedelics, including psilocybin—the active ingredient in magic mushrooms—are being used to help people with difficult-to-treat conditions such as depression, addiction, and anxiety?

Curious to know more?

Hear a personal account from Erica Rex ’09JRN, who draws on her memoir, Seeing What Is There: My Search for Sanity in the Psychedelic Era, to explore the psychedelic therapy movement, its complexities and its ethical pitfalls in her search for healing.

For fans of Aldous Huxley and Timothy Leary, a woman’s personal journey unfolds in a historically documented and scientifically elucidated memoir of lifelong struggle to overcome CPTSD with the help of psychedelics.

Erica will be joined in conversation by Professor David Nutt, Edmond J. Safra Chair in Neuropsychopharmacology at Imperial College London and former Chair of the UK government’s Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs.

  • The discussion will be followed by an audience Q&A.
  • Your ticket includes pizza. Drinks will be available to purchase.
