Congratulations to the New York Knicks

If you hadn't heard, the New York Knicks won the NBA Championship for the first time in over 50 years. For many Columbia alumni, this is their hometown—or adopted—team.
For anyone taking part in a local pub quiz, did you know that in 1809, legendary author Washington Irving introduced the word "Knickerbocker"? Ever since, it has been synonymous with New York City. In keeping with another New York tradition, the team's colors are orange, blue, and white—the official colors of New York City.
Open Board
From time to time, we host an Open Board meeting for alumni interested in volunteering or simply learning more about the Columbia Alumni Association (CAA). You'll have a chance to speak with CUCL leadership, learn how the club is run, and discover areas where we could use some help.
We haven't set a date yet, but if you're interested, we have a short registration form (seriously, it's only six questions, and the first two are your name and email).

Student Spotlight: Columbia MFA Short Film in London Festival

Bless the Telephone, written, directed by, and starring K.D. Chalk, has been selected as an Official Selection of the 2026 Raindance Film Festival. Chalk is currently an MFA candidate in Screenwriting and Directing at Columbia University School of the Arts, where the film originated as her MFA project and involved the work of several Columbia MFA students, including Liberty Joy Maldonado and Gabriel Aguilar.
It will make its world premiere with screenings on June 22 and June 24 at Vue Piccadilly.
PLEASE NOTE: While this is not a CUCL-hosted event, we wanted to share this screening with our community and support current Columbia students showcasing their work in London.
